The project was part of the $19.2 million development of the New Brighton foreshore, which includes the new beachside playground, and signals the start of a positive transformation for New Brighton. After many years of decline, the development supports the goals of bringing life, activity and vitality to the suburb.
As part of this development Planz secured district and regional consents for the development of the Hot Salt Water pool facility and associated children’s playground in New Brighton.
Key features involve integrating Ngāi Tahu design narratives, sensitive coastal protection, and community consultation, allowing the project to progress without the need for a hearing.
