Invercargill CBD Redevelopment

Planz processed resource consents for two significant projects in Invercargill's town centre on behalf of the Invercargill City Council.

These complex applications required balancing heritage preservation with urban regeneration, as the existing buildings had heritage value but were earthquake-prone and suffered from deferred maintenance.

The projects facilitated the development of a large hotel on the corner of Don and Dee Street and the comprehensive redevelopment of a CBD block into a mixed-use commercial, retail, and entertainment precinct.

Both applications were publicly notified, attracting substantial community interest. The independent hearings panels supported the recommendations presented by Planz, with both projects now fully developed.

The Tannery Retail and Hospitality Precinct

Planz played a key role in the successful regeneration of a large industrial brownfield area in Woolston, Christchurch, transforming it into the popular and unique Tannery retail and hospitality precinct. This project involved securing a suite of resource consents to support the staged development of the precinct, which has become a destination of choice in south Christchurch.
