Our work

Port of Tauranga and Port of Lyttelton Inland Ports

Planz provided comprehensive planning input to secure resource consents for the construction of two new inland ports in Rolleston.

These projects involved constructing rail spur lines and establishing multi-hectare facilities for handling shipping containers from the ports of Lyttelton and Timaru, as well as providing associated warehousing and distribution facilities. The consents for both facilities were obtained on a non-notified basis, streamlining the development process.

In addition to these inland ports, Planz led the formulation of the District Plan component of the Lyttelton Port Recovery Plan under Canterbury Earthquake legislation. This plan facilitated the comprehensive repair and enhancement of port infrastructure following significant damage from the Canterbury Earthquakes, ensuring the port’s continued operation and resilience.
