Wakatu Quay Development

Planz successfully obtained resource consent for the Wakatu Quay development in Kaikoura, working on behalf of the Kaikoura District Council.

This project, funded by the Provincial Growth Fund, involves the transformation of a former wharf area, once occupied by commercial fishing buildings, into a vibrant community space with a focus on commercial and tourism opportunities. The development is designed to provide tenancy options for hospitality and tourism operators, as well as community gathering points, event spaces, and recreational areas for activities such as fishing, walking, and play. Additionally, the project includes education and cultural facilities that will complement and enhance existing businesses in Kaikoura, contributing to the area’s economic and social revitalisation.
