Dean Chrystal, a director at Planz Consultants, boasts over 35 years of planning experience. His dedication and expertise were recognised with the Distinguished Service Award by the New Zealand Planning Institute in 2013. Dean’s extensive background includes a profound understanding of the local government environment, gained through his work with various local authorities.
Throughout his career, Dean has led numerous strategic projects, encompassing the preparation of statutory plans, planning reports, policy documents, design reports, and research studies. He is adept at presenting evidence before Councils and the Environment Court. Dean’s comprehensive skill set includes workshop presentations, plan preparation, project management, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments. He excels in preparing and presenting evidence and collaborating with business and community groups on local initiatives.
Dean’s notable projects include the Dovedale Campus redevelopment and the Farm Compliance assessment for Pamu. His role as a Commissioner has seen him undertake appointments for multiple Councils across the country, including Horowhenua, Hurunui, Tararua, Tasman, Timaru, Waimakariri, Waitaki, and Selwyn District Councils, as well as the Canterbury and Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Councils.
