Carmen Taylor brings over 30 years of planning experience to Planz Consultants. Her career began with New Zealand’s national electricity generator before transitioning to private consultancies. Since joining Planz in 2017, Carmen has played a pivotal role in various high-profile projects.
Carmen’s extensive experience includes preparing applications and seeking approvals under diverse legislative and regulatory frameworks, with a particular focus on the Resource Management Act (RMA) and associated statutory plans. She has also prepared submissions on statutory plans, developed management plans, processed resource consent applications, and implemented consultation processes. Carmen’s skills extend to preparing and presenting evidence at hearings and before the Environment Court.
A notable aspect of Carmen’s expertise is her ability to provide strategic, statutory, and environmental management advice. She is adept at identifying management approaches that minimise adverse environmental effects, ensuring sustainable and compliant project outcomes.
Carmen’s recent projects include policy assistance and development processes for Ravensdown and consenting the Hākitekura Redevelopment (Academic Retreat and Conference Facility) near Queenstown for the University of Otago.
Outside of work, Carmen enjoys spending time with her partner. Together, they are dedicated to renovating an old (late 1800s) house, once owned by the Speights family (of beer fame). Beyond home renovations, Carmen’s passion for planning extends to various travel adventures in New Zealand and overseas, having visited all seven continents.
