Selwyn 2031: District Development Strategy

Planz Consultants played a key role in the preparation of the Selwyn 2031: District Development Strategy, which was adopted by Selwyn District Council in August 2014.

The Strategy provides an overarching framework for sustainable growth across the district through 2031.

With the completion of higher-level strategic planning for the Greater Christchurch area, including the implementation of Land Use Recovery Plan (LURP) Actions and Chapter 6 of the CRPS, the focus shifted to the broader Selwyn area. Key actions of the Strategy included preparing Area Plans for different parts of the district, addressing issues through the District Plan Review, and implementing a township network to enhance self-sufficiency and quality of life.

Planz was involved in drafting the Strategy, attending public meetings, and consulting with key stakeholders to gather feedback on the draft directions, policies, actions, and implementation timetable. Planz continues to support Selwyn District Council with ongoing strategy and planning assistance, ensuring that the district’s development aligns with the long-term vision established in the Selwyn 2031 Strategy.
