Jonathan has over 25 years experience working as a planner and also holds a Masters in Urban Design from Auckland University. He has worked extensively in the area of plan preparation and policy development and also has considerable experience in preparing resource consent applications and providing evidence at both Council and Environment Court hearings with a particular focus on higher density housing, heritage, and urban growth.
Recent projects include processing major private plan changes on behalf of Selwyn and Kaipara Councils. These plan changes sought to provide for over 3,000 new dwellings in the rapidly growing communities of Prebbleton and Managawhai. He has separately prepared evidence in support of a large 1,900 house greenfield rezoning in Woodend north of Christchurch as part of the Waimakariri District Plan Review process.
Outside of work he can often be found sitting in the sun with a cup of tea reading the newspaper.
